The Stove Yard – Multi fuel and wood burning stove and boiler stove specialists

The Stove Yard was formed in 2004 to distribute the new Olymberyl® range of cast iron wood burning and multi fuel stoves and boiler stoves throughout Ireland. The Olymberyl brand quickly established a reputation with Irish stove retailers and customers for its superior build quality, exceptional reliability and all-round value for money – especially with the flagship boiler stove, the Aidan®, and the best-selling entry-level Gabriel®.

In April 2007 we opened our first showroom in Newtownards County Down, initially as a trade showroom for our own two brands, but as word got around, the public also began to beat a path to our door and in November 2008 we doubled its size and took on additional stove brands to complement the Olymberyl and Horse Flame offering to help us cope with the increased demand. We believe that The Stove Yard now has the biggest dedicated stove showroom in Northern Ireland – no fireplaces or gas fires – just stoves and real stove expertise. We now also offer our showroom customers a Guaranteed Stove Installation Service through our five teams of dedicated stove fitters.

In 2007, following our market feedback, the manufacturer of Olymberyl introduced a 'classically' simpler range of cast iron stoves under the Horse Flame® brand which has become equally successful and includes the ever-popular 5kW Artemis and the big Yarrman 12-plus radiator boiler stove. Later that same year The Stove Yard officially became the exclusive distributor for both brands in the UK mainland as well as Ireland and we subsequently began to actively market these stoves in the UK mainland, initially direct to the public through The Stove House website (subsequently re-branded The Stove Yard in Spring 2011).

Such was the growth of Horse Flame and Olymberyl that in May 2008 that we were asked to form a joint venture company (www.hi-flame.com) with Olymberyl's manufacturers to further build the brand's retailer network in England, Scotland & Wales and also to develop specific stove products for the Irish, UK and European markets – the first of these being the new state-of-the-art Precision steel bodied stove range launched at Hearth & Home in Harrogate in 2010.

To complement our two Northern Ireland warehouses, we opened a UK mainland logistics centre in September 2008 which was originally based in East Manchester, but subsequently relocated to Cheshire (2010) and in September 2008 we opened our first Stove House retail showroom (again re-branded The Stove Yard in Spring 2011) in the heart of Cheshire and close to South Manchester. In January 2009 we were approached, and subsequently appointed exclusive UK and Irish distributors, by the prestige Danish designer classic stove brand Dan Skan®, which are widely recognised as amongst the greenest and most efficient stoves in the world.

Although devised as a means to develop the brand awareness of both Olymberyl and Horse Flame stoves in the UK, The Stove Yard internet retail operation, along with The Stove Yard County Down and Cheshire showrooms, have now become successful business units in their own right and this success is built on providing high quality multi fuel stoves and wood burners at competitive prices, but without cutting corners on our high level of customer service and impartial and expert advice. For example, there are some very popular stove brands that you just won't find on The Stove Yard website or in our showrooms because we simply do not believe that they meet our own expectations of quality and value so therefore they're not going to meet the expectations of our customers beyond being at a 'budget' price. Plus there are many others that just simply do not represent good value for money. At The Stove Yard we always ask ourselves this one simple question: would you be happy to sell this product to your Mother?

Above all The Stove Yard offer a real understanding of the products that we sell. As stove designers, manufacturers, importers, distributors, retailers and installers our approach and our expertise within the stove industry is probably unique, and the benefits of all of this to our customers, we believe, is invaluable  and can easily be seen in the high levels of referred business we receive –  a key component of our continued growth.

The Stove Yard are founder members of the SIA (Stove Industry Alliance) whose mission is to promote the benefits and environmental advantages of stoves and raise the standards of stove products generally as well as promote their safe installation The SIA includes many of the major UK and European stove brands as well as Hetas and GasTech. We also actively support the aims and objectives of the Hetas approved installer scheme (www.hetas.co.uk) which promotes the safe and efficient installation of stoves.
